The Ivens, Autograph Collection, Lisbon

The Ivens, Autograph Collection, Lisbon

Lisbon does glamour from top to bottom, whether you’re snapping photos in its azulejos-tiled Alfama quarter or drinking in a balmy rooftop bar. Five-star The Ivens is the most elegant pad in town, set in an iconic 19th-century building with a historic shell-pink exterior in Lisbon’s smartest district, Chiado. The hotel’s lavish communal spaces were dreamed up by one of Spain’s leading designers, Lazaro Rosa-Violan. You’ll spot nature motifs in the library-like, split-level lobby, with glossy dark woods, huge plants and richly upholstered furniture inspired by Portugal’s voyagers and explorers. Check into one of 87 rooms to find a cool, calming palette of white and pine, with distinctive arched windows courtesy of this period property. Several rooms have secluded balconies with views of Lisbon’s iconic red rooftops.

Club tip: Don’t miss the Gastrobar (above), a design highlight here, with theatrical red and gold flourishes and maximalist floral bar stools. It serves a sharp cocktails and small plates selection.

Hotel President Wilson, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Geneva

There’s something extra serene about a lakeside setting, and this contemporary hotel, minutes away from the beautiful parks and boutiques along the rue du Rhône, benefits from glorious views of Lake Geneva. Sun-drenched May to September tempts visitors to its heated outdoor pool – a rarity in this city – but, even if you’re here in winter, there’s a cosy spa to enjoy, with expert massages and a steam room to unwind in. Smart, modern rooms lead to indulgent marble bathrooms. Book a deluxe lake view room to open your curtains to that shimmering expanse of water. And be sure to make a reservation for dinner. The hotel’s Bayview restaurant has a Michelin star, with chef Michel Roth creating upmarket dishes from the local Savoy region.

Club tip: Departing on a Saturday? Book the Weekend Getaway package for complimentary parking, an upgrade to a lake view room, breakfast and CHF 140 (£124) food and drinks credit.

Duo Milan Porta Nuova, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Duo Milan Porta Nuova, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Tribute Portfolio, Marriott International’s growing global collection of characterful, independent hotels, has welcomed Duo Milan Porta Nuova, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel. Marking the second Tribute Portfolio property in Italy, the hotel is ideally located in Porta Nuova which is known as Milan’s design, fashion and business hub. It combines sincere services and charming Milanese experiences, anchored by the brand’s passion for captivating design. Its 239 guestrooms are adorned with bright colours and indie-spirited details that reference the urban landscape.

The pops of colour in this design hotel – a tangerine sofa here, a Mondrianesque rug there – channel the energy and vigour of the city outside. A capital of both business and style, the northern Italian hub of Milan is where you’ll see incredible street fashion, eat in the latest restaurants and shop to your heart’s content before heading back to the hotel’s contemporary rooms with their leather headboards, emerald-green feature walls and white subway-tiled bathrooms. Downstairs is the lively coffee shop Duo Café, as well as Duo Bistrot, the chic signature restaurant dressed in brass details combined with industrial-inspired touches, which hosts a generous breakfast buffet each morning. The neighbourhood of Porta Nuova is a cutting-edge design district, with a landscaped central park wrapped in eye-catching skyscrapers, plus power-lunch spots and Milan’s central station for further adventures.

Club tip: If you’re a foodie, look out for the new Peruvian restaurant, Alegria, which is set to open later this year on the 12th floor and promises dazzling views over the city.
